My Dear Annie
I received your nice
Christmas Card. and would
have acknowledged it before but
we been of to the war. Just got
back to day. I had a [illegible] and
soldiers out. The war is over. but
Burke is so stuck on it he wont
come away. I think he is going to
Mary a Squaw. Old John Lekue got
a card out and run away &
never stoped until he got here
to North Platte.
Well My Dear little Girl
I actualy cried when I first heard
of your death. then I got to thinking
it over & made up every mind it was
not so. Cabled Frank but recd no
answer. & Knew full well if [word crossed out] our
Annie had died Frank would have
cabled here. Will be glas to hear from
You where should your birth day come
