Preliminary Articles entered
into at Greeneville between his Excellency Anthony
Esquire Major General and Commander in Chief
of the Legion, and Commissioner Plenipotentiary of
the United States of America, for settling a perm-
anent peace with all the Indian nations, north
west of the Ohio of the one part, and the Sachems
and War Chiefs of the Shawnese and Delaware
Nations for and in behalf of themselves, and the
Miami Nation on the other part-

It is agreed that articles for a permanent
peace shall be adjusted, agreed to, and signed;
all hostilities shall cease, and the aforesaid Sa-
chems and War Chiefs, for and in behalf of
the nations [caret] while [written above line] they represent, do agree to meet the
above named Plenipotentary of the United States
at Greenville on or about the fifteenth day of
June next, with all the Sachems and War Chiefs
of their nations, then and there to consult and
conclude upon such terms of amity and peace
as shall be for the interest and to the Satisfac-
tion of both parties; at which time and place
all the prisoners now in the possession of the Uni-
ted States, belonging to each and every of those
