AGAIN, at the close of an active campaign, we nia permitted to congratulate the Whigs of Ohio on the success of their labors to retain in their own hands the political power of the State. Firm and steadfast in their purposes to promote to the best of their ability, the interests of this great State, they have promptly exercised the high privilege conferred on them, by our republican institutions, and the verdict is such an one as they had a right to expect. Having performed their duty and devolved upon men of their choice the legislative power of the State, it is natural and proper that they should feel an interest in the deliberations ot those men, their public servants. The Legislative body that convenes in this city in December next, will compare favorably with any legislative body that has ever been convened in this State in point of talent, integrity, experience and patriotism. It is a token of better days for our beloved Slate when we see men who have stood high in the Councils ot the Nation, who have enjoyed for years the confidence and respect of the wise und good within our borders, and who have faithfully discharged all the trusts committed to their hands ut home and abroad, obeying the demands of their fellow-citizens und once more entering upon the active duties of public life. In the deliberations of such men we cannot but feel an interest, knowing as we do, that qttBttkmi of deep import to the State will come under consideration. That they will acquit themselves well we have an abiding confidence ; ami this, as it should, but adds to our desire to ponder their doings and secure to ourselves the evi-Aw deuce of their wisdom and fidelity in a faithful transcript of the proceedings of the Legislative body ot which they are members. That there Ins been too much party legislation ni Ohio candid and considerate men of all parties will probably admit. And that the next Legislature may he enabled to foster by its action the great interests ot the State, without reference to party or sectional divisions, should be the desire of all. Hut, we cannot remain insensible to the fact that the Whins, who constitute a majority in that body, will be held responsible for what may be done or left undone. As a party, therefore, we are deeply interested in having Itefore us a correct record of what is done, that we may defend what is right anil by our united voices strengthen the hands of our servants in well doing. Posted as we are on the walls of the Capitol, with facilities greatly increased by experience, and encour-nged by the approbation which our past labors have secured, we again announce our intention to issue a Session paper during the ensuing winter. With nn enlarged sheet ut our command und the aid of an excellent corps of Reporter, we confidently expect to furnish a session paper equal to the wants and expectations of the Whigs of Ohio. Aiming nlttcruranj in our reports of proceedings, we hope to becure a wide circulation for the Session Journal in everv section of the State. The other departments of the paper will "receive their share of attention, and the proieedings of Congress and the general intelligence of the day wilt be faitbfullv noted from day 1" dav in our columns. How many valuable lives might be Bpared if a little more attention was paid tu those apparently trilling complaints, colds, coughs, etc. There are very few who estimate correctly the vital importance of having them immediately removed ; and generally look upon them as harmless complaints, thnt will speedily pass off, without any assistance, and in the exercise of such a delusive hope, the majority of those who die annually of consumption in its various forms, have allowed themselves to put oil' the use of a proper medicine, until their lungs become diseased without remedy. If the celebrated I Jr. Duncan's Expectorant liemedy for consumption, colds, coughs, Ac, was employed immediately on the first appearance of a cold, a tedious, and probablv a fatal illness might lie arrested. It is at this time that the Seed of Consumption is bovvu in the system and nurtured until the Lungs become seriously and dangerously diseased, when in all probability the patient, Ibr the first time, will begin to seek relief. How many thousands thus neglect themselves and surfer their Health, and finally their Lile to be destroyed. At length the cough increases, and finally prostration and' languidness of the whole system follows, which indicate a sudden decline of Health, and (he speedy approach of Consumption. These facts, plain as they appear to every sensible person, do not, however, seem to alarm those afflicted, until it may be too late. Asthma, Fain in tht: Side, Breast and Chest, Whooping Cough, Croup, and all other diseases of the Liver and Lungs. COLDS and COUGHS lead to Consumption. It is an invaluable meuieine in every stage of the disease. It removes the first symptoms immediately, and when it is not absolutely impossible, it seldom fails to effect a cure in the worst cases. Upwards of 1000 GUm in the State uf Ohio within the last year. Ask who you please, and almost every person will advise riM you tu pro cure this medicine. SUDDEN CHANGES The JH other of CoiiNumptioiH. THIS fact is clearly demonstrated wherever we have a sudden change in the weather. The first perceptible foot-prints of CONSUMPTION, experienced at sudden changes of the weather, are Hoarseness and Cough, Soreness of the Throat, and Irritation of the Bronchi. Fain in the Head, Coldness of the Feet, and Sudden Chilliness over the Bod v. At length the cough increases, and finally prostration and' languidness of the whole system follows, which indicate a sudden decline of Health, and (he speedy approach of Consumption. These facts, plain as they appear to every sensible person, do not, however, seem to alarm those afflicted, until it may be too late. It is therefore of the greatest importance for those who may he attacked from the effects of sudden changes in our atmosphere to at once procure DR. DUNCAN'S Celebrated hrpectoranl Remedy, the greatest preventive and I.f'e Guard of COXSFMFTIOX, and the only certain medicine that will remove disease and again ration the LUNGS to their former Health.
